creative genius

Elizabeth Gilbert

‘Don’t be daunted. Just do your job. Continue to show up for your piece of it, whatever that might be. If your job is to dance, do your dance. If the divine, cockeyed genius assigned to your case decides to let some sort of wonderment be glimpsed, for just one moment through your efforts, then “Olé!” And if not, do your dance anyhow.’   Elizabeth Gilbert.

For me, this TED talk is one of the most inspiring things I’ve come across on the creative process.  Even if you’ve seen it before, I urge you to watch it again.  Creativity comes from practice, Gilbert says, not from divine inspiration.  And it comes from overcoming fear and embracing vulnerability. Frightening, but – I think – so very true.
